Jack Graduates!

I can't believe Jack is going to be in Grade One this fall! Jack graduated from Kindergarten a few days ago - he did really well on his report card, we were very pleased. Hannah also did great and she's going to be in Grade Three! How did this happen, it feels like they just started school - for those parents who don't have kids in school yet - watch out! Once they are in school time flies by.

They both found out yesterday who their teacher is for next fall and which friends will be in their class. Jack has Mr. Zinner -who we were hoping for - he taught Hannah in JK and SK. Hannah is happy with her class too - and it's not a split......yeah.

I'm home from work today - took the last day of school off to pick up the kids and stuff. It's a beautiful day out and I'm doing nothing!
Jack has a ball game tonight and Hannah has soccer. We will take some pics tonight and post them up.

Last night on Canadian Idol - Zack the 'mean' judge - was wearing a Shania's Sunflower of Hope t-shirt and said a 'hello' to Shania at the hospital. She isn't doing very well and everyone is hoping for the best. I have to remember to just be happy that my kids are healthy, that's all that really matters. Shania's blog is really heartbreaking, I don't think anyone can really truly understand how they are managing.

Zoo Pet Hospital

We went to the annual zoo toy pet hospital and it was HOT!

I think I will consider the weather before we go next year...it was our third year in a row and it is AMAZING but I don't know if the kids got as much out of it the third time around. Especially after a half hour line up in the heat. Jason's really good at hustling us out of the house in time so that we are first in line, but they changed the location within the zoo this year (without telling us!) and we had to walk half way across the zoo thus putting us at the end of a big line!

Henry was pretty exasperated and exasperating by the time it was our turn. One cool new thing this year was the added "oxygen" for the pets who needed some sort of surgery. It really is fun!

Winding Down for Summer Vacation

Yesterday was Play Day at the kids' school. I don't remember what we called it when I was little, but I sure remember having it! We looked forward to it for weeks! The games seemed so sophisticated and organized and there was always orange, syrupy McDonald's juice. It's pretty much the same, just freezies now instead of juice.

And how about this picture?! I can't figure out what happened...I think she may have thrown a lot of the water out of the cup before it actually landed on her head, but it sure looks neat!

Today was the last Friday of the school year. Thursday will be the last day next week. I know a lot of people are worried about what to do with their kids all summer and I'm sure I'll be singing a different tune at the end of summer, but I'm REALLY looking forward to having the kids to myself for a while. I really miss them. Monday at Wonderland was AMAZING!! I feel like I never even see Hannah. There's an hour in the morning where I tell her to hurry up and did you remember your lunch and have you got a hat and hurry up. Then there are a few hours of homework, piano practice, dinner, bath and maybe playtime before bed. It will be so nice to have un-structured, un-scheduled days on end! I think Henry will be a bit put off since he's used to having me all to himself in the mornings, but I think he'll enjoy the company too.

Have I mentioned before that Henry is REALLY loud? Well, trying on bathing suits is certainly not my favourite thing to do, but having Henry in the crowded change rooms with me tonight made it even less enjoyable! He suddenly called out, "Mommy, you have a hole in your underwear!" Then I forced my hand over his mouth when he started singing a song he learned from the other kids, "I went to a Chinese restaurant to buy a loaf of bread, bread, bread, the waiter asked me what's my name and this is what I said, said, said, "my name is Ching Ching Charlie..." Did I say I was looking forward to summer?!

Fathers' Day

Had a great time at Lionel's Pony Farm...Jason was making friends with the animals while Henry ate the old celery we brought to feed the animals!

The weather couldn't have been better for our barbeque too! Thanks for entertaining the kids with the paper airplanes, Dad.

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Birthday, Sharon!

And a happy Father's Day to the Dads. We're having mine over for a barbeque after he finishes golfing today. Ribs and corn on the cob, nice messy food! Jason's already had his Tim Horton's coffee and the kids piled all of their crafts on him in bed this morning!

Yesterday was crazy...too much going on if you can imagine. We keep pretty busy, but at different times in the day, Jason and I both fell asleep sitting up! We had a street sale in the morning and Jason cleaned the pool and mowed lawn while the boys swam & I took Hannah out for some girlie time and to finish our Father's Day shopping and out to lunch. We all met up at the Markham Music Festival in the afternoon and then went on some rides before dinner. Then more swimming.

We ended the day with a movie I bought for the kids at one of the garage sales on our street...I know, the point of a garage sale is to get rid of stuff. Anyway, by 7:00, Henry was asking if he could go to bed! So was I!!

Summer Days

I can't believe it's the middle of June - when did that happen.

The kids are finishing up the last few weeks of school - and luckily there isn't that much homework because it seems every night there is an activity that we are in or have to be at. Hannah is enjoying soccer - it sure is nice to sit back and enjoy the game - but I didn't realize I am one of those parents - the loud ones at games, I was always coaching so yelling things out was what you do - but I have been told I am a spectator now and I don't need to shout out comments the entire time... Hannah also wants to join Highland dancing - a friend is in it and she is very interested in it.

Jack is doing great at t-ball - really coming together and the coaches are really organized which is great -we will have to post some pics soon. Henry just goes with the flow - as the third child tends to do - the other night after staying up late swimming with friends the night before, I went down to get him for dinner and found him asleep on the floor behind a chair - we tried to wake him up but it was no use, so Dana just put him to bed at 5pm - he woke up the next morning after 7am - what a sleep!

Tomorrow is a street sale - so we are trying to rid ourselves of stuff - too much stuff in this house. Looking forward to a restful weekend of relaxing by the pool and sleeping in on Sunday...hint hint...

Happy Birthday, Bennett!

We had a great time at Bennett's 2nd birthday party this evening! I think Bennett's highlight was when we all went to the park to play with his new sand toys!

I took a bunch of pictures and accidentally deleted (on my camera) my favourite one while I was looking through them. I was so mad at myself until I found that I had "image retrieval" software!! It took me an hour and a half, but the software retrieved images from my card that I shot back in October and I've reformatted my card MANY times since then! This is probably boring to most people, but it is an absolutely wonderful, amazing, mind-boggling discovery for me!

Anyway, I think it was well worth the time spent, you can decide for yourself.

Also today, Jack had a field trip to a farm where he fed goats and rabbits, jumped in a hayloft, went on a wagon ride and apparently, at some point, fell on his head! Since the field trip would bring them back to school for a later pick-up, Henry & I had a longer than usual morning together. We took his trike to the park and had a great time!
