Mourning the Annual Halloween Party

Well, we had a couple of parties this weekend but neither of them was our annual Halloween Party. This would have been the weekend to have it if we were going to have it, but we cancelled it this year. It's a bit sad, but I don't really know where we would have fit it in. Jason's leaving for Victoria on Tuesday and I had a wedding all day Saturday and a portrait shoot Friday. Friday would have been the only night, but it takes a full day to set up and a full day to clean up and there just wasn't the time for it...we're hoping to have a come-back party next year...we'll see.

Instead, there was the annual triple birthday party Friday night with the traditional card game after the kids were asleep. I lost by a lot, but we all had a good time.

Then today, Eri & Mike's sister hosted a Halloween party for kids! So here's a sneak peek at the kids' Halloween costumes. They ate lots of treats, played a game with gooey eyeballs and everyone had a swing at the piniata! Thanks guys for a great time! Maybe it is time to pass the Halloween Party on to the next generation.

This Week In Blogging...

HELLO! It's been awhile....a long while. Hectic as usual around here, but everyone is great, and time is just flying by. It's about time, but work is starting to calm down, my office has been moved, which is fine, it's only for a year then I will be relocated again when CTV finishes their unending construction. I am off to Victoria next week for Figure Skating, it should be great - I am really looking forward to it, although I will miss Halloween this year. The last time I was in Victoria was in 1991, it seems so long ago now. After college I went out to B.C. for the summer and tried to find work, didn't and came home, it was fun while it lasted.

Dana is back to work in the studio a couple nights a week, only a few more weddings this year, then we have her back on the weekends. Hannah is now in a Grade Two only class - the school received more funding from the school board, and they now have a separate grade three class, so all of the grade three's were taken out of her class and moved to a new room. This turned out well, her class now only has I think 17 kids. Jack is a busy little guy, strutting his stuff now that he is in Senior Kindergarten - he sure has grown up in the past few months. And Henry...oh Henry - that one keeps us on our toes. He is cute, even when he is being naughty...laughing "hee, hee hee" when he does something he isn't supposed to. Yesterday, during what was supposed to be nap-time, I walked into his room to find him leaping from his bench onto bottom bunkbed, only during his leap I said "HENRY!" and he forgot to duck down, and SLAM - he went head-first into the top bunk. He later said "you scare me when you say henry" He's fine, he's solid that boy.

So that's the update - we promise to update more often - J

Happy Birthday Dad!

Man I didn't realize how long it had been since we blogged. Hannah went to Brownie Camp last weekend and was the only one of her friends who spent the night for two nights!! She loved it and I wanted to post the video clip of us picking her up so I've prolonged blogging until now.

Still knitting, Brownies, hockey, colds, weddings.

I will write more later.

What a Great Weekend!

We knew it was going to be a busy one so we had it well planned out.

Friday night was a birthday celebration for Granny Gwen since we weren't able to celebrate with her in September. It was also going to be the only get-together with my family for Thanksgiving weekend so fortunately everyone was able to make it! Pizza, kids, balloons and birthday cake. Happy Birthday, again, Granny Gwen!

Saturday I had a wedding in the afternoon and Jason had to get in to work so he went in early with Hannah and Jack while I finished the Thanksgiving baking. Then while I was at the wedding, Jason had the kids out on their bikes and packed for Windsor.

Sunday we drove to John's farm for a GREAT Thanksgiving get together and dinner. 8 adults and 8 kids. Dogs, corn fields, tractors, hide & seek, turkey, pumpkin hunts, baseball. I loved that we played hide and seek until dark! It's so nice for the kids to have so much freedom on all that property. There's nowhere around here that they could run and play at such a distance from us and feel that kind of freedom with so many other kids! It was a great time and a great meal!

We spent the night at Mary & Rob's and after a nice breakfast, had a quick visit with Nancy & Doug before heading home.

Everyone's pretty exhausted, but it's that good, physical kind of worn out!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Windows and Knitting

That's what's new around here!

We got new windows as part of a huge vision for the house that we are working at bit by bit. Eventually we'd like to change the siding and landscaping too, but all in good time. For now, the windows change the look of the house enough to keep us happy for a long time.

The Wednesday night knitting group's first meeting was a huge success!! We were all thrilled at how much we could accomplish in such a short time. Don't look too closely at the picture, some people may be getting scarves for Christmas! Looking forward to more Wednesday nights! Missing from photo: Elaine - sorry, your eyes were closed in the other photo!
