Dropped off all 3 kids this morning...now what? I don't know what kind of job I can get that is Mon/Wed/alternate Fridays and doesn't require me to work during the summer...any suggestions?
Henry was so excited for school and went right into the playground area to play with some toys. When the bell rang, he went right on playing! I just took it for granted that he would know that a bell means go line up! I called him over to the line-up and he put on his backpack and waved to me then got a bit of a less happy look on his face and ran over and hugged me and hugged me then cheered up and ran inside.
How did I not crack?! I don't know. Jason knew I wouldn't cry because whenever I think I'm going to cry, I don't. I didn't cry at my wedding, I didn't cry when each of my babies was born, but show me a Hallmark commercial at Christmastime and I'm a weeping puddle!
I'm really excited for Henry's kindergarten year. He has a teacher my other 2 didn't have and he's the first of the 3 to go all day on alternate days instead of every day for just the morning. This decision was made for us when we were late signing him up, but recently a spot came available in the morning classes and we were offered the position and turned it down. I think this teacher and this schedule will suit Henry well. His teacher has been teaching longer than the others and although I've heard she's not as warm & fuzzy, she's very organized and has a wonderful structure to her program. I think Henry will really benefit from this combination.
Here's the note I received when I dropped him off this morning (with an herbal tea bag attached!):
Another milestone,
The first day of school,
So independent and yet so reliant,
Take pride in your child's achievements,
Give him opportunities to spread his wings,
Hug him when he needs it,
I will do the same,
Enjoy this moment,
It will not happen again.
Please enjoy your day. Sit back, relax, whether at work or at home, and have a cup of tea. Think about the growth your child has made and dream of the accomplishments he will achieve.
Today is a wonderful day!
Ok, that just made me cry typing it out!
So for not "warm & fuzzy", I'm pretty impressed!
