Tryouts are over

After a few weeks of tryouts for hockey, Jack made the A-team for Minor Atom next year. He was at the AA tryouts and made it to the 3rd and final tryout only to find out he didn't make it - I could tell he was disappointed, but he was really excited to be back with some familiar faces on the A level team.

Hockey is over!

Oh Henry starts 3on3 hockey this friday....forgot...

Ice Show - Theme Park Adventure

Hannah is right now at her 4th and final performance. We all went to Saturday's matinee and weren't disappointed!! Granny Gwen is between my Dad & Jason and is here only until tomorrow. Our dear neighbour and friend Dorothy is beside my Mom & promised Hannah she would come to the show too. Bennett was patient through the 3 HOURS! and seemed to especially enjoy numbers like Superheroes and SpongeBob. Hannah was in 2 numbers - Rainbows and Cowgirls. She preferred the Cowgirl choreography and costume but didn't like that the spotlight was so bright. Luckily this photo was taken during dress rehearsals!
My friend Jill took these photos during dress rehearsal and I'm so glad to have them. I didn't take photos during the show since I felt I wouldn't truly be able to appreciate it if I had a camera with me. But I would have been sorry not to have any pictures...thanks, Jill!

I've had quite a few small jobs in April so I haven't been taking many photos of the family...I tend to put the camera away when I get home from working with it. Besides some baby and family portraits, it's yearbook time and the first set of pages are due this week so there have been some last-minute photos at the kids' school too.
There is this one photo I took a couple of weeks ago...it's one of Hannah's friend's dog who came over for a playdate. She has a few friends who recently got puppies so Murphy has made some new friends! Besides that, the big news around here is that I got into teacher's college!! York University, Whitby campus. I am really excited about it and looking forward to being a student next year. The timing is great with Hannah having just finished the babysitter's course and Henry starting into full-time school in the fall. I had an information session at the school last week and there were a bunch of keeners there and I wasn't the oldest one!! It will be one intense year with a LOT of practice hours but then I will be qualified to teach!!
In the kids' lives, hockey is over but Jack's into tryouts. They have the tryouts this week and next for next year's teams. He's been to one so far last night and got a letter that he's invited back to the next tryout for that team. You should have seen him beaming!! Hannah's got a few late nights ahead of her as they have their final rehearsals (5 hours each night!!) for the ice show. We're all really excited for the show and the fact that my grandmother will be coming from Montreal to see it!

Still at the rink

Henry is the only one not at the rink this week... Hannah is there everynight for hours, as she prepares for this weekends skating show - should be exciting - I think she has 4 shows to preform in this weekend! Jack has just started hockey tryouts, he convinced us he wanted to tryout for AAA this year and understands he could be cut - then he would go to AA, then A which is the level he played last year. Last night he was asked back to the second of four AAA tryouts, I hope he doesn't get his heart set on anything...he was pretty excited to be asked back yesterday.

It's April!

Last night I went to the Markham Waxers 1st Annual end of year celebration with Jack - 700 people, 500 of them are current Waxer hockey players from all levels and ages..It was a lot of fun, Cody Hodgson who is a Waxer Alumni and who was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks was there and spoke to all the kids.
Jack was surprised to find out that he was announced Most Improved Player of the Year for his team! Well, I'm not sure if surprised is the word...when I asked him if he expected it, he said he was "40% sure" it would be him and he was crossing his fingers and kept saying "say Jack St. Louis, say Jack St. Louis".... That kid has too much confidence...
