Stanley Cup

Jack's hockey team was invited to celebrate the Stanley Cup coming to Markham today. Mike Zigomanis who plays for the Pittsburgh Penguins (Markham resident) had the Stanley Cup for 24 hours and was all over Markham.

Jack was thrilled to touch the cup!

What's New?

Well, I don't really know. The days seem busy, but I don't really have photos to show for it. Dog walks, swimming lessons (3 new badges!), soccer, baseball, goalie training, visit from cousins (what no photos?!), head to the park, hockey, weather's been really crappy, not so many weddings; but on my way home from a wedding last weekend, the sky opened up and poured! I was in the car with the broken windshield wipers (yup, new car!) and had to get on the highway so I slowed donw for a bit and since I had my camera with me, I stopped and took some pictures. Too bad there was rain on my lens!! It's going to take me a while to draw in those parts!

Job

Hannah is in her glory! 3 years ago she read an article in the local paper about a woman who was rescuing stray cats but needed funding to provide a shelter for them. Hannah saved her money and did school reports on this cause and followed the story for years. Then late this school year she saw an article that this woman finally had a shelter. We visited once and Hannah has been begging to volunteer there. During the school year, they really only needed help on weekday mornings which doesn't work for school kids but now that summer's here...Hannah's able to volunteer 2 mornings a week. She couldn't sleep last night anticipating her first day (today).

Thriller!

I don't want to post any pictures of the video Thriller out of hesitation that Jack may see if over my shoulder one day.

With all the tributes to Michael Jackson on television, I was watching tv last week with Jack and Henry. The Thriller video came on and I let them watch it, Henry was very interested, Jack was scared to death.

Now every night Jack has visions of the Thriller video that throw him into hysterics, I have never seen him so scared. Poor guy. Michael Jackson is one scary guy, Jack has no idea... I thought by explaining the process of making videos, makeup etc would make it easier, but not so far. There may be something else going on - he came up to us the other day in tears and said he was "school-sick" - he misses school. I used to be school-sick - but I remembered the definition another way.

It also doesn't help that Henry will break out into his own rendition of Thriller at different times throughout the day...

I should show him before/after pics of Michael Jackson to really scare him.

Mom's Birthday

My Mom's birthday is actually in May, but when you're 2 years late with the present, what's another couple of months?
Eri & I had been planning on taking her away for her 60th birthday (2 years ago) but between the 3 of us, last Friday was the first time we could all manage to get away!
We went to an old B&B in a small town not too far from here. Nothing too exciting, but we make our own fun.
We had a GREAT time!!
